rael i are flying in and out of S'PORE on the third weekend of november for the MAY'N gig at ANIME FESTIVAL ASIA. alskjdhaslkdj this trip is so last minute it's not even funny XD i hope i cough up enough spending money to enjoy the trip and not just sit in a corner and sulk hahaha~
friends in S'PORE, if you want to hang out or anything send me a private message and let's set something up. i'm looking forward to seeing you guys <3
btw -- apparently KOMIKON and HERO AMPED are going head to head on the third weekend of november -- not that i'm all torn up over it since i'm off to ANIME FESTIVAL ASIA >:D i cannot however, be at two places at once, so i might be needing a little help from someone attending the local events.
i need someone -- hopefully someone with fairly deep pockets and a laissez faire attitude towards BL -- to secure me one copy each of all the BL doujinshi and original comics to be released at KOMIKON's indie market. i swear on my dead goldfish's grave that i will pay you back for all the books once i get back from SG.
i am currently running a series of reviews on the LO website on local BL works, and i am down on my last book. KOMIKON is the one chance (other than LO) to see local circles release doujinshi, so it could be a good place to pick up more material to critique.

| scratch that itch <3 |
 i haven't bought new BL in months x.X i've also been reading nothing but shoujo smut for the past couple of days, so i decided to go ahead and purchase my backlog of boysex from JPQ.
my shipment was already on its way when a chance sighting on PLURK reminded me that i haven't purchased any (nope not one) of the three BL gaemz i've been meaning to get for the longest time: SILVER CHAOS, TOGAINU NO CHI, and KICHIKU MEGANE.
of the three i am most eager to give KICHIKU MEGANE a spin, not because it has the best plot or gameplay (most are in agreement that those honors belong to TOGAINU NO CHI), but because it caters to three of my favorite kinks: salarymen, suits, and glasses (oh god especially the glasses). the evil seme sans possessed eyeglasses of doom™ is also the pliant uke -- boysex plus self-love all rolled into one, so what's not to like?!
as if that weren't enough, the game boasts of IMO the best ever opening theme to come out of a BL game, if not one of the better ones in the history of japanese visual novels (again IMO, i consider the opening theme from AIR to be the best ever). incidentally, both AIR's TORI NO UTA and KICHIKU MEGANE'S UNDER THE DARKNESS were produced by the same music label I'VE, so uh yay?!
gawd i wished i remembered this earlier x.X;; that way i could've at least included the manga adaptation of KICHIKU MEGANE with my current JPQ parcel, and then scheduled the purchase of the actual game two or three months down the road (some PINKYs will have to go lulz). |

| more UCC related musings |
i've had dinner at UCC CAFE two nights in a row (CAFE TERRACE TRINOMA and CAFE TERRACE MALL OF ASIA) since discovering their BACON & SAUSAGE CURRY COUP SPAGHETTI. i love it like an insane person, and wouldn't mind eating it everyday for the rest of the week (or until i got sick of it). it also doesn't hurt that their coffee and desserts are top-notch; it''s definitely been one of my better weeks, dining out-wise.
rael and i may be switching from being regulars at the CAFE VIENNA MALL OF ASIA to the CAFE TERRACE, since we had an unfortunate experience with the VIENNA's GARLIC MUSHROOM SPAGHETTI. it's a cardinal rule of cooking never to burn the garlic, since it turns bitter and nasty, and unfortunately in this case it turned a perfectly good plate of spaghetti into an inedible mess.
we finished our meal and paid our bill without complaints, but we did have a word with their wait staff to tell their colleagues in the kitchen to keep their eyes on the saucepan at all times. UCC is a good place but it won't stay that way if they don't keep standards up. nothing ruins a good restaurant faster than bad food.
while in on the topic of food, i've just recently discovered that even if i had the time or the inclination, i'd make a bad food blogger :D i'm the sort of person who eats first and asks question later. if it wasn't for rael constantly prodding me to take some quick pictures of the food in front of us before chowing down, i would only have a fraction of the pictures now sitting in my hard drive. |

Japanese Girl Sensation: Virtual Boyfriends (Webkare)
In Japan, girls are crazy over virtual boyfriends. Webkare (Web Boyfriend in Japanese), a mix between a social network and dating simulation site, is Nippon’s newest web sensation. Geared exclusively towards girls, the site attracted over 10,000 members just 5 days after its release on September 10, racking up 3.5 million page views in the same time frame.
The site is a huge hit over here. Girls sign up and become members of a social network but also users of a dating simulation in cartoon style. They have to try to hook up with one of four male Anime characters (who are the “stars” of the site) through “conversations” and must collaborate with other Webkare members in order to move on in the game. Eventually they conquer the heart of the chosen cartoon boy. |
