The Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute Kansai anime-manga.jp

The Japan Foundation’s Japanese-Language Institute in Kansai is proud to bring you anime-manga.jp, an interactive website that helps you learn Japanese by harnessing common words and phrases found in most anime and manga series.

The site is designed to be easy-to-navigate, has modules for students with absolutely zero background in the Japanese language, and best of all — lessons are absolutely free.

The only requirements are that your PC, broadband connection, and browser are able to cope with the site’s Flash-heavy applications.

There are two modules currently online (Character Expressions and Word Quiz) with more coming soon (Expressions by Scene and Kanji Game). In Word Quiz, learners can study using beginner, intermediate and advanced level vocabulary using manga examples.

With Character Expressions, users can learn about the type of Japanese used by typical characters found in manga and anime: young boys, young girls, gangmembers, samurai, old men, high-class ladies, butlers, and Osaka natives.

So give anime-manga.jp a try today, and learn real Japanese the right way!
