PS3 Slim PS3 Price Cut Persona 3 PSP Port

After a choppy phone cam video of a never before seen PS3 model being hawked in — of all places, Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila surfaced online last July, gaming pundits were quick to dismiss it as another one of those cheap Chinese look-alikes.

Looks like somebody has to eat crow now after Sony just announced the 1st September 2009 release of the PS3 Slim. Smaller, lighter, and sexier — the new PS3 starts at just USD 300 for the 120 GB model, compared to the USD 400 sticker price of its 80 GB predecessor.

And speaking of the PS3 “Phat”, Sony’s lackluster sales figures are about to get a boost as the older model takes a USD 100 price slash. Hopefully, this will put the PS3 back in the console wars after its rivals the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft’s XBOX 360 have been outselling it 3-to-1 and 2-to-1 respectively.

Last but not least — ATLUS whores rejoice!!! Persona 3 — the most seminal installment of the Shin Megami Tensei series, is slated for porting to the PSP, to coincide with the release of the PSP Go. The title will also get an upgrade including a new female lead, controllable party members, and more difficulty settings.

Yes folks, it’s a good time to be a Sony whore >:D

The sales for the PS3 will also get boosted not only for the price drop but also for the announcement from Namdai about Tales of Vesperia’s PS3 port (the one game which sold a lot Xbox360 in Japan). Though there are no localization news yet, it’s still a factor for the cult followers. :)

  2. truedat — any release from the TALES series making its way to the PS3 is another good reason to get the console~
